How the repair process works
-
1
Initial Assessment and Fixed Estimate
Send us photos of the broken joint, split surface, or water mark. We check the timber species, calculate workshop hours, and send a fixed written price.
-
2
Bench Disassembly and Clamping
We transport the piece to our Birmingham workshop, remove old failed glues, fit new English oak splines, and clamp the joints under controlled pressure.
-
3
Surface Polishing and Final Inspection
We touch up timber stains, rub in natural beeswax or button shellac, test mechanical balance on a level stone bed, and deliver the piece back to your home.
What local clients say about our bench work
Julian collected our loose Victorian dining table from our home in Edgbaston. He re-glued the legs with hide glue and leveled the split top. The table is completely rigid again and the surface looks authentic.
Arthur M., Birmingham, GBOur set of four Edwardian dining chairs wobbled badly. They disassembled each joint, cleaned out the old crumbly adhesive, and clamped them tight with new oak dowels. Paid by bank transfer on return.
Fiona K., Solihull, GBDeep heat rings on an oak bureau top were treated and buffed with natural beeswax. The original patina remains intact without any harsh sanding marks. Good communication throughout the repair.

Before you book
How do you calculate the price for a furniture repair?
We review photographs of the damaged area along with overall dimensions. We assess timber species, joint failure, and finish condition. You receive a written estimate detailing the bench hours and materials. That quote remains fixed with no extra charges.
Can you carry out joint repairs on site in Birmingham?
Minor surface touching, scratch reduction, and hinge adjustments can be completed in your home. Structural frame gluing, clamp curing, and full shellac finishing take place in our George Street workshop where clamp racks and drying zones are kept at stable humidity.
What payment methods do you accept once the work is finished?
We do not take card payments. You inspect the completed furniture upon return to your home and settle the balance by bank transfer or cash on delivery.
What happens if a repaired chair or table joint loosens after delivery?
We offer a 30-day adjustment window. If an assembled joint develops movement or a hinge shifts within 30 days of return, our craftsman returns to inspect and re-clamp the joint at no additional charge.
Areas we cover across Birmingham and the West Midlands
Our workshop is based in the Jewellery Quarter on George Street. We collect and deliver furniture throughout these central and surrounding districts:
